New Legal Structures for Social Entrepreneurs

Until recently, social entrepreneurs founds themselves in the position of choosing to organize their venture either as a for-profit company or a nonprofit organization. Fortunately, there are a few emerging innovative legal structures designed for entrepreneurs who are driven as much by mission as money. This article outlines the LC3 designation, Benefit Corporation, and Flexible-Purpose Corporation corporate designations which are available in some US states.
