Developing Diverse, Sustainable Approaches to Childcare

It is clear that disproportionate numbers of people from black, minority ethnic and refugee (BMER) groups in London continue to face multiple disadvantages that prevent them from accessing high-quality childcare services that meet their diverse needs and interests. In order to make high-quality childcare services available to all families in the UK, the Government must provide the resources and the infrastructure required for new and existing organisations to thrive.

This report will argue that, with the right support, social enterprise nurseries have the potential to address this persisting childcare gap through providing places for low-income families, recognising and fulfilling a diversity of interests and needs and empowering disadvantaged groups.
